5 Reasons Your Dog Will Enjoy Artificial Turf 1

Why Dogs RUV Artificial Grass Lawns

Homeowners with dogs often choose to install artificial turf. Why? Well, artificial turf is easy to care for and requires no water to survive and thrive. If you live in a city or state where drought conditions are common and require consideration, installing artificial lawns can be a definite plus that helps you save money every month. Families with dogs, however, may find that installing artificial turf pleases their pooch as well as their budget. After all, dogs love nothing more than to be outside for long hours at a time, able to play and run as they please. Lawns made from synthetic grass will both make it easy to take care of your green spaces and allow your pets to romp without running the risk of ruining the lawn.

1. It’s Just Like Natural Grass

An artificial lawn looks and feels like natural grass when a dog walks, rolls or lays on it — it truly is a sight to be felt and seen before choosing to install. Although you may believe natural grass is the best option for its soft and gentle feel to the touch, the blades of synthetic varieties mimic the movement of natural grass. They will also compress into a soft cushion when your dog lays on it and rolls around. When a dog moves, rolls, or romps upon it, artificial blades of grass act in a manner similar to natural grass, moving through the fur and providing the exact same sensation as that of a real lawn.

2. Forget the Harsh Chemicals

With an artificial lawn, there is no need for any harsh chemicals. This means your pet can go outside whenever they want, without worrying about exposure to harmful contaminants like pesticides and chemicals. When weed killers and fertilizers are applied to the blades and soil of natural grass, children and pets must avoid the lawn in fear of the chemicals getting on their shoes or clothes and cause adverse reactions. The lawn can be rendered untouchable for anywhere from 6 to 12 hours after each application of harmful chemicals. There is no need for any type of chemicals on artificial turf, as it remains clean without any additives, so your pets can play as desired.

3. Clippings Won’t Stick

Dogs with longer hair can pick up all sorts of lawn debris when playing in the yard. Grass clippings, small sticks, dirt, dust, seeds and dead grass can become embedded in their fur and brought straight into the house after they have finished their playtime. This can be especially frustrating if the grass has recently been mowed. The fresh green clippings can cause even greater damage, staining carpets and clothing. When you choose artificial lawns over natural, fewer allergens are brought into your home.

4. Never Too Tall for Short Pets

Shorter dogs often struggle with natural grass lawns. If the grass grows too tall, it becomes more difficult for them to maneuver through it. An artificial lawn does not grow and instead remains the same height no matter what changes — dog-wise or lawn-wise. Most artificial turf lawns feature blades of grass that are no larger or longer than 1 ¾ to 2 ½ inches tall, the ideal height for small dogs and puppies to run through.

5. Forget About Mud

One of the biggest benefits of an artificial lawn is its installation; once your natural lawn is replaced, there is very little chance that mud or dust will work its way to the surface of the blades of “grass”. With no dirt or topsoil exposed, able to be trampled or ran through, there is little chance for mud even if rain occurs. A small, intricate network allows for water to drain away so it can’t pool or accumulate in an artificial lawn. Letting your pup out after a rainy day no longer leads to mopping the kitchen when they return indoors. Their feet may be wet from walking through the wet grass, but they will not bring their muddy paw prints to your floors.
