Once infused into our turf products, Microbe-Safe™ antimicrobial technology starts to work as soon as a microorganism comes into contact with the treated surface.
By creating an inhospitable environment for microorganisms like bacteria, mold, and mildew, built-in antimicrobials protect your turf products from staining, bad odors, and premature degradation.
Microbe-Safe™ antimicrobial technologies provide continuous 24/7 product protection that does not wear off and remains effective throughout the life of your turf.
Our Microbe-Safe™ technology is added to the backing of our turf, which is where pet urine or other liquids end up settling.

How Does Microbe-Safe™ Antimicrobial Technology Work?
Microbe-Safe™ antimicrobial protection works at a cellular level to continually disrupt the growth and reproduction of microorganisms that contaminate treated artificial grass products.
The technology operates a multi-modal attack by damaging the protein, cell membrane, DNA, and internal systems of a microbe, causing it to die.

How do turf products with Microbe-Safe™ Antimicrobial Protection Work?
Microbe-Safe™ protection inhibits the growth of microorganisms. When microbes come in contact with the turf product surface, Microbe-Safe™ antimicrobial protection penetrates the cell wall of the microorganism and disrupts cell functions making the microorganism unable to function, grow and reproduce.
What types of microorganisms does Microbe-Safe™ protection work against?
Microbe-Safe™ antimicrobial protection is effective against most common bacteria that cause stains, odors, and product degradation. Microbe-Safe™ technology is not designed to protect users from disease.
Does this mean I don’t have to clean my turf as much or as carefully?
No. Microbe-Safe™ protection provides continuous antimicrobial protection that protects the turf, making it easier to clean and keeping it cleaner between cleanings. However, normal artificial turf maintenance and cleaning practices should be maintained.

Does Microbe-Safe™ protection begin working immediately?
Microbe-Safe™ antimicrobial protection begins to work as soon as the microorganism comes into contact with the turf’s backing. It then works continuously to maintain a consistently lower bio-burden than would be expected on a product without Microbe-Safe™ antimicrobial protection. When used in combination with T°-Cool®, an antimicrobial infill, your artificial turf installation is protected from top to bottom! Under the right conditions, microbes on an untreated surface can double every 20 minutes! Microbe-Safe™ technology is not a disinfectant and is not a substitute for normal cleaning practices.
What is Artificial Grass Made of?
Artificial grass is made out of resilient compounds like polypropylene, polyethylene, and nylon. Manufacturers add other compounds to incorporate different features into their turf products. For example, our turf products contain “Microbe-Safe™ Technology,” which is an antimicrobial agent that’s infused with the turf backing. This is especially valuable on fake grass for dogs as it helps prevent the buildup of odors and bacteria from dog urine.
